Sekolah Rendah Layong, Tutong II
One aim: To Strive For Success

On 10th January 2009, His Majesty visited Tutong. The purpose of his visit was to visit victims of flash floods and landslides, apart from visiting homes of victims, His Majesty also visited schools and this included SR Layong. His Majesty's visit shows how much he is concern about his citizens' welfare.

His Majesty arrived in a blue Pajero and teachers' in SR Layong rushed to the main entrance to greet His Majesty's arrival.

His Majesty's visit was greeted with joy by teachers at SR Layong.

Our GB (Cg. Kasim Bin Hj Marsal) show his Majesty around the school.

His Majesty also asked questions concerning children's studies.

We might be few in numbers but the way we work has always been TEAMWORK....

Flash Flood!!!!

Water. It is something that we depend on, it is useful for our daily use but is this a blessing or a curse? Since 4th January 2009, 5 schools were affected by the worse flood since 1962, this also included SR Layong. Teachers and pupils' found it hard to go to school not only with the strong current but also due to crocodiles lurking around the flooded areas. Teachers were only able to go in after 4days, ways to go in? Climbing the pipeline and walking through the waters.

Water levels rising as heavy rain goes on.

Fire fighters as well as soldiers on stand by due to the flooding around Layong.

The second time floods reach the main entrance of school only this time it's with strong current.

The route towards SR Layong were also effected causing massive absentees of teachers and pupils' alike.

Many properties were damaged due to the flood, one of the wood dispatched due to the strong current.

Seeing is believing, experiencing is way beyond imaging.

Most teachers say that this years flooding has to be the worse in history and certainly for some an experience to remember.

After the drawing contest, we teachers' discussed about the drawings of each group and of course the most creative drawing wins the contest. The prize presentation was conducted a week after the Co-Curricular activity. Prizes were presented by Cg. Kasim (GB).

The 1st place winner but why look so sad? Maybe this is not their 1st time.

The winners receiving their prizes from our GB. Keep up the good work lads.

Even Year 1 pupils' received gifts for their creativity. Good work.

Congratulations to our winners.

Some created their own wordings inside their greeting cards.

Some even stick stickers to make their greeting card attractive.

Co-Curriculum Activity

Every Thursday morning, our school will do Co- Curricular activities. For this particular week, we chose to do a drawing contest amongst groups. The theme was in conjunction with Chinese New Year.  Teachers' in charge were only there as a guide for pupils'. It was a fun activity that really kick start our morning blues.

Pupils' showing their excitement towards the task given to them.

Samples were given to pupils' as an example for them to draw. Even boxes of mandarin oranges were brought to school.

Pupils' showing their creativity to make a greeting card.

Hmmmm? Whose hand might this be? I can't remember pupils' wearing baju kurung with flower patterns on.

This function was held as a farewell gift for 2 teachers(Cg Ismadi & Cg Nine) who will be furthering their studies at UBD, one relief teacher (Cg Asrul) who ended his service to the school last year and one teacher who was transferrred to SR Bakiau, Tutong I. Now, SR Layong is left with 12 teachers with 80 pupils' to teach. Tiring as it is, we teachers here are ready to step up to the challenges.

Cg. Ismadi receiving a gift from our GB (Cg. Kasim Bin Hj. Marsal). Cg. Ismadi was considered as one of the interactive minds around the school. Active in sports and yet fond for ICT. Definitely a good teacher.

Cg. Asrul's time at the school was rather brief but all his efforts to teach and guide pupils' here we will always cherish.

Cg Nine was considered as one of the most creative teachers around. Strict but yet nice, she will always be remembered by teachers and pupils' alike.
